At about 12:39 p.m. on the 25th, a fire broke out in a low mountain in Gupyeong-dong, Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, and authorities are carrying out firefighting operations.
When the fire started, the forestry authorities urgently deployed 12 helicopters, 51 firefighting vehicles, and 140 firefighting personnel to the scene, focusing on extinguishing the main blaze.
At the scene now, a southwesterly wind is blowing with an average wind speed of 3.1 m/s.
The Central Disaster Management Headquarters of the Korea Forest Service said, "The cause of the wildfire is presumed to be the spread of a beekeeping facility fire," and added, "Even a small ember can lead to a large wildfire if neglected, so we ask that all illegal burning of trash and agricultural by-products be strictly prohibited and that thorough care be taken in managing embers."
