A detention warrant has been requested for a woman in her 60s, identified as A, on suspicion of assaulting and killing her mother in her 90s with whom she lived. A's husband, B, also had a warrant sought on suspicion of aiding and abetting.
Incheon Bupyeong Police Station said on the 25th that it requested a detention warrant for A on suspicion of injury resulting in death to a lineal ascendant.
According to police, A struck her mother multiple times on the 20th, leading to her death three days later. B aided and abetted the assault and did not provide life-saving measures for his mother-in-law.
At 5:41 p.m. on the 23rd, three days after the crime, A called 119 herself, saying, "My mother is not breathing."
A told police, "It is true that I assaulted my mother, and I think she died around noon on the 23rd, three days later," adding, "It was because of family matters," according to reports.
The mother had previously lived with other family members and then moved in with A and her spouse due to family matters.
Police are continuing the investigation while awaiting the autopsy results.
