Daejeon City, the Daejeon Tourism Organization, and the Korea Minting, Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corporation (KOMSCO) will work together to develop "Kkumdori currency goods."
The three institutions on the 19th signed a co-branding business agreement at Daejeon City Hall to launch "Kkumssi Family currency goods." They plan to release character "money cushions" and keyrings using currency byproducts such as retired banknotes.
A city official said the product carries the concept of a special gift that embodies "the new value of wealth" made from discarded money.
KOMSCO currently sells related items such as money cushions, money calendars, money ballpoint pens, money keyrings, and money envelopes. With this project, the business will expand into the intellectual property (IP) space using characters.
Park Seung-won, head of Daejeon City's Culture and Arts Bureau, said, "The 'Kkumssi Family currency goods' aim to launch in the first half of the year," adding, "By combining the popularity of the Kkumssi Family characters with the competitiveness of KOMSCO's 'Money Made (goods made of money),' we expect Daejeon's representative 'currency goods' to attract nationwide attention."
