A person in their 20s who killed an acquaintance of his mother has been arrested. The reason for the crime was that the person said the victim harassed him.
According to the Wonju Police Station in Gangwon on Jan. 18, the Wonju branch of the Chuncheon District Court issued an arrest warrant for A, 26, on charges including murder, home invasion, assault and confinement. A is accused of killing B, 45, at an apartment in Taejang-dong, Wonju, Gangwon, at about 6:39 p.m. on Jan. 16.
The investigation found that B was an acquaintance of A's mother. Regarding the motive, A said, "B harassed me."
Earlier on Jan. 16, while B was not home, A went to B's residence, beat and threatened his mother, C, 71. After B returned home, A grabbed a weapon inside the house, swung it at B and carried out the killing.
During this process, C called police, saying, "An outsider has broken in and is beating the victim," and officers who responded to the report arrested A at the scene. After the crime, A also called police and said, "I killed someone."
Police plan to continue investigating A for specific motives and other details before handing the case over to prosecutors.
