Singer-actor Choi Jeong-won (44), formerly of the group UN, has been cleared of an adultery allegation.
On the 15th, the Supreme Court dismissed an appeal filed by B, the ex-husband of A, who had been identified as the alleged partner in an affair with Choi Jeong-won.
The Supreme Court said it had reviewed the lower court's ruling and all grounds for appeal but found that the arguments did not fall under any of the reasons listed in Article 4, Paragraph 1 of the Act on Special Cases Concerning Procedures for Appeal or fell under those in Paragraph 3, and dismissed the case. B will bear all appeal expense.
After the ruling, A shared the appeal decision on social media (SNS), saying, "This is the result I waited and waited for over more than four years," and added, "I've broken free from gaslighting by a person who claimed an affair that wasn't an affair, harmed many people, was the ultimate hypocrite, and went around scamming."
A went on, "I'm so happy, thanks to everyone's support," adding, "I'll get proper treatment until I recover, eat well, and take good care of my child."
Earlier, in Jan. 2023, B claimed that Choi Jeong-won had committed adultery with B's wife, A. B then filed a 100 million won damages suit against Choi. Choi denied the allegation and filed a complaint accusing B of threats, defamation, and insult.
