Police plan to summon and question Rep. Kang Sun-woo over alleged nomination bribery.
According to police and others on the 15th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Public Crime Investigation Unit notified Kang's side to appear on the 20th.
Kang, who served on the Democratic Party of Korea Seoul chapter's nomination management committee during the 2022 local elections, is suspected of having received 100 million won from then-candidate and now Seoul City Council member Kim Kyung and later returning it.
The allegation surfaced after an audio recording of a conversation between Kang and Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Byung-kee was released on the 29th of last month.
Kim, the city council member suspected of giving 100 million won to Kang, appeared again before police that day for questioning. Earlier, Kim submitted a written statement to police saying he "met Kang in person at a cafe and handed over 100 million won." Kang has said that he learned belatedly that Kim gave money to Kang's aides and instructed them to return it.
