The vice chair of the Gangseo District Council in Seoul, identified as A, who is suspected of hitting a fellow district councilor with a car and fleeing, has been sent to prosecutors.
According to police on the 14th, the Seoul Gangseo Police Station referred A without detention on the 12th on suspicion of failing to take necessary measures after an accident under the Road Traffic Act.
A is suspected of ramming fellow district councilor B with a car at about 5:55 p.m. on Nov. 7 last year in the underground parking lot of the Gangseo District Council and fleeing without taking any measures.
B showed symptoms including a concussion, was hospitalized for two weeks, and reportedly continued to receive outpatient treatment until recently.
At the time of the crash, A faced suspicion of going into hiding because the cell phone was powered off, but about three hours after the incident, at around 9:30 p.m., A voluntarily appeared at a nearby police box for questioning and was sent home.
A's blood alcohol level reportedly did not register on the breath test.
