Lee Jae-yong, Samsung Electronics chairman's eldest son, 1st Lt. Lee Ji-ho (25), has reportedly been assigned to the Navy's 5th Mine Landing Flotilla.
According to the Navy and others on the 11th, 1st Lt. Lee is set to serve as an interpreter officer in the information operations staff office within the Navy's 5th Flotilla. Interpreter officers handle interpretation between commanders and translation of intelligence during combined operations with foreign forces.
1st Lt. Lee entered the Naval Academy in Sept. last year as a candidate for a Republic of Korea Navy officer and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in Nov. of the same year.
Born in the United States in 2000, 1st Lt. Lee held dual citizenship but renounced U.S. citizenship to fulfill military service as a Navy officer.
