The National Fire Agency said on the 9th that five firefighters received the 11th Korea Public Official Award. The Korea Public Official Award is regarded as the highest honor recognizing outstanding public service performance across field operations and systems.
National Fire Agency Senior Fire Superintendent Jeong Gwang-bok received the Order of Service Merit for being highly recognized for first planning the national fire mobilization order and a nationwide comprehensive emergency rescue drill.
Jin Jun-ho, a senior fire lieutenant at the Gyeongju Fire Station in North Gyeongsang, also received the Order of Service Merit. Jin was recognized for contributions including responding to more than 7,000 disaster sites and rescuing 5,103 people.
Lee Seung-hyo, a senior fire lieutenant at the National 119 Rescue Headquarters of the National Fire Agency who received a presidential citation, served as an air rescue and emergency medical crew member for Dokdo and helped revive five patients in cardiac arrest.
Ki Young-hu, a senior fire lieutenant with the 119 Special Rescue Unit of the Seoul Fire and Disaster Headquarters, received a prime minister's citation for achievements in disseminating rescue techniques, and Han Jeong-hyeon, a fire captain at the Hwacheon Fire Station in Gangwon, received a prime minister's citation on the strength of academic results in disaster safety.
The National Fire Agency plans to provide selected meritorious firefighters with various benefits through a review committee on decorations and merits, including special promotions, reward leave, performance bonus preferences, and additional points for excellence.
