A man who posted on an online community that he would detonate an explosive at Osong Station in Cheongju, North Chungcheong, was caught by police.
According to police on the 8th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul arrested a man in his 30s, identified as A, on suspicion of making a public threat and he is under investigation.
A posted an article titled "What is CTX? This is what I know" on the online community DC Inside at about 4:24 a.m. on the 6th. CTX is both the English abbreviation for the Chungcheong Metropolitan Rapid Express that passes through Osong and the name of an explosive that appears in the film "Shiri."
A posted a photo presumed to be an explosive and wrote, "I should set this off at ㅇㅅ."
A citizen who saw this reported it to police at about 2:41 p.m. the same day, and the police special forces searched the area around Osong Station for about 1 hour and 40 minutes but did not find an actual explosive.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, working with the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency, arrested A in Gimpo, Gyeonggi, at about 6 p.m., about three hours after the report.
Police said the specific motive is under investigation.
