Dongguk University said it recently approved a three-month suspension for a professor over allegations that the professor, while drunk, made unwanted physical contact with students and engaged in inappropriate behavior and remarks.
According to Dongguk University on the 6th, Professor A of the Department of Cultural Heritage Studies received a three-month suspension after a faculty disciplinary committee meeting on the 8th of last month. The suspension runs from the 15th of last month to Mar. 14.
The issue became public in Nov. last year when the student council of the Department of Cultural Heritage Studies and others posted wall posters on campus. The posters reportedly said Professor A of Cultural Heritage Studies repeatedly sexually harassed and molested students.
After learning of the case, the school began disciplinary proceedings following an investigation by the human rights center and a faculty personnel committee review. On the 2nd of last month, the university foundation's board of directors requested a disciplinary vote, and at the faculty disciplinary committee meeting on the 8th of last month, the three-month suspension was finalized.
