A single photo posted on social media (SNS) by Ahn Da-bin, the eldest son of the late actor Ahn Sung-ki and a Western painter and installation artist, is drawing attention.
Ahn Da-bin posted a photo on his SNS on the 4th. The photo shows a photo book of the 1993 film "I Want to Go to That Island." Ahn Sung-ki starred in the film.
Ahn Da-bin is Ahn Sung-ki's eldest son and debuted in the U.S. art scene as a Western painter in 2006. Since then, he has continued his work while traveling between Korea and the United States. Ahn Sung-ki's younger son, Ahn Philip, graduated from the photography department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is working as a photographer in Korea. Ahn Da-bin, who had been staying in the United States, reportedly returned to Korea on the 2nd and stayed by his ailing father's side.
Earlier, Ahn Sung-ki was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2019 and had been undergoing treatment. On Dec. 30 last year, he collapsed at home after food became lodged in his airway during a meal and was moved to an intensive care unit for treatment but ultimately did not regain consciousness.
The wake has been set up in Room 31 at the funeral hall of Seoul St. Mary's Hospital, and his surviving family includes his wife, Oh So-young, and two sons.
