On Sunday the 4th, the deep freeze that swept across the country is expected to ease.
As of 5 a.m. that day, temperatures in major areas were ▲ Seoul -2.4 C ▲ Incheon -1.9 C ▲ Suwon -4.2 C ▲ Chuncheon -9.5 C, Gangneung 1.3 C ▲ Cheongju 0.2 C ▲ Daejeon 0.6 C ▲ Jeonju 1.3 C ▲ Gwangju -0.6 C ▲ Jeju 6.6 C ▲ Daegu -0.8 C ▲ Busan 1.1 C ▲ Ulsan 2.1 C ▲ Changwon -0.2 C.
The daytime high is forecast at 1–10 C. That is similar to or slightly above the average (morning -12–0 C; daytime 1–9 C).
However, in northern Gyeonggi inland and Gangwon inland and mountains, where cold wave advisories remain in effect, morning temperatures will drop to around -10 C. Also, slightly strong winds will make it feel colder.
The cold will ease, but air quality will deteriorate. Fine dust levels are expected to be "bad" in Sejong and North Chungcheong, and "moderate" elsewhere. In the south, fine dust from abroad will flow in from early morning, raising concentrations.
Nationwide skies will be mostly cloudy, with flurries or a few raindrops in North Chungcheong and North Jeolla through the morning.
With dry weather advisories in effect for Seoul and inland Gyeonggi, the east coast and mountains of Gangwon, eastern South Jeolla, and the Gyeongsang region, the air is dry and winds are strong, so small sparks can grow into large fires and caution is needed.
Waves will run 0.5–2.0 meters in the East Sea's nearshore waters and 0.5–1.0 meters in the West and South seas' nearshore waters. In offshore outer waters (up to about 200 kilometers from the coastline), wave heights are expected at 1.0–2.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5–1.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5–2.0 meters in the South Sea.
