On the 4th, the first Sunday of the new year, the extreme cold that continued through year-end and New Year's will ease somewhat, with daytime highs rising to 10 degrees.

Rain or snow will fall on the West Sea coast of South Chungcheong. Flurries of less than 0.1 cm are expected along the West Sea coast of southern Gyeonggi and in North Jeolla. Expected snowfall on the South Chungcheong West Sea coast is less than 1 cm.
Morning lows are forecast at -10 to 2 degrees, and daytime highs at 1 to 10 degrees.

Fine dust levels are forecast to be "bad" in some central regions including Seoul and southern Gyeonggi, and "good" to "normal" elsewhere.
Waves will run 0.5–2.0 meters offshore in the East Sea and 0.5–1.5 meters offshore in the West and South seas.
Wave heights in the inner distant seas (distant seas within about 200 km from the coastline) are expected at 1.0–2.5 meters in the East Sea, 0.5–1.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5–2.0 meters in the South Sea.
