Police formed a task force (TF) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into Coupang's suspected personal data leak and alleged concealment of industrial accidents.
According to police on the 2nd, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency launched a TF the previous day with the chief of investigations (senior superintendent) as the Head of Team and 86 members. The investigative manpower increased to more than four times the original size, from 21 members on the existing team probing the Coupang personal data leak case.
In addition to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's cyber investigation unit, the investigation division, the metropolitan investigation unit's financial crime investigation squad, public crime investigation squad, and criminal mobile unit joined. The TF will handle not only the personal data leak case but also all 19 complaints related to Coupang.
The TF is also expected to handle the case in which the National Assembly filed a complaint accusing Bom Kim, chair of Coupang Inc., and Harold Rogers, Coupang's acting CEO, of violating the National Assembly Testimony and Appraisal Act.
