At about 6:05 p.m. on the 2nd, two passenger cars and a taxi collided in succession on the road in front of Jonggak Station in Jongno District, Seoul. The crash sent vehicles onto the sidewalk, causing multiple casualties.
According to police and others, two passenger cars and a taxi collided in succession, and the vehicles involved ended up on the sidewalk. One of the vehicles also reportedly caught fire. Witnesses saw victims lying on the street.
According to fire authorities, 10 people are confirmed injured so far. A female pedestrian in her 40s was taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest and later died. There are nine injured in total, five of whom are foreigners. Among the four injured Koreans, one is a taxi driver.
Police and fire authorities have deployed 53 personnel and 16 pieces of equipment to manage the scene.
