A fire broke out on the Jongno 3-ga jewelry street in Jongno, Seoul, sending up heavy smoke and forcing authorities to block nearby roads.
According to police on the 2nd, at about 6:09 p.m. a fire broke out on the Jongno 3-ga jewelry street in Myo-dong, Jongno District, Seoul, and an emergency response level was issued.
Fire authorities arrived at 6:11 p.m. and are battling the blaze with 73 personnel and 20 pieces of equipment. No casualties have been identified so far.
Because of the fire, both directions are fully closed from Donhwamun-ro Jongno 3-ga to the Changdeokgung intersection.
The Jongno District Office sent an emergency text saying heavy smoke was generated by the fire, advising people to take safety precautions and detour around the area.
