The average regular admissions competition rate for the 2026 academic year at Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University was 4.11 to 1.
According to each university and the admissions industry on the 31st, the average regular admissions competition rate at the three universities came to 4.11 to 1, down slightly from last year's 4.27 to 1.
This year's College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) was a high-difficulty exam, commonly called a "hard CSAT." Nevertheless, assessments say that applications to the three universities proceeded with the usual level of confidence.
By university, the competition rates were 3.67 to 1 at Seoul National University, 4.45 to 1 at Yonsei University, and 4.14 to 1 at Korea University.
Seoul National University dipped slightly from last year (3.72 to 1), while Yonsei University rose from last year (4.21 to 1).
Jongro Academy said, "English was a hard CSAT, and despite Yonsei University placing a relatively higher weight on English, the number of applicants actually increased," adding, "At least among Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University, the fallout from the hard English CSAT does not appear to exist."
