A Korean tourist in his 50s was arrested by police after causing a disturbance and refusing to pay for food at a bar in Sapporo, Hokkaido, and breaking the glass door of the establishment.
According to Hokkaido outlet STV and others, the Sapporo Chuo Police Station arrested a 51-year-old Korean man, identified as A, on the 28th on suspicion of property damage.
At around 11:30 p.m. that day, at a bar in Chuo Ward, Sapporo, when a staffer asked A to pay 3,500 yen (about 32,000 won) for the food, A shouted "No Money" and refused to pay. After a scuffle with the staffer, A allegedly tried to force his way out of the shop and rammed the entrance door, shattering the glass.
The staffer tried to stop A as he attempted to leave the shop, but A shook the staffer off and pushed the door with his body, causing damage, it was found. Police dispatched to the scene after a report took A into custody immediately.
During police questioning, A reportedly said about the offense, "I will tell my lawyer." Local media reported that A appeared to be intoxicated at the time.
