On the 31st, Kim Young-hwan, governor of North Chungcheong Province, received a plaque appointing him an honorary social worker from the Korea Association of Social Workers.
The honorary social worker qualification is conferred on those who have contributed to social welfare and is decided through a resolution by the association's board of directors.
Governor Kim Young-hwan was recognized for embracing the region's socially and economically vulnerable. The province introduced region-led welfare models such as "Working Meal Service," evaluated as the nation's only working-welfare innovation model, and "Postpaid Medical Bills," the nation's first virtuous-cycle medical welfare program.
Kim said, "If Chungbuk-style innovative welfare policies and the passion of social workers come together, we can build a sustainable and warm North Chungcheong where no one is left behind."
