The "Bearista cold cup," a winter limited-edition good from Starbucks Korea, is in short supply, with resale prices more than doubling just a day after its re-release and "open run" lines forming.
On the 31st, dozens of posts offering to sell the Starbucks Bearista cold cup were uploaded on multiple secondhand transaction platforms. The product's list price is 45,000 won, but in the secondhand market it is being traded in the 80,000 won range for unopened new items. Some sellers quoted prices exceeding 100,000 won, and posts asking for prices in the 200,000 won range even appeared.
Sales of the Bearista cold cup began at stores nationwide on the 29th, but major locations are seeing continued sellouts. On social media (SNS), posts are piling up with proof shots from those who lined up from dawn on the first day of release and succeeded in buying one, as well as reviews from those who visited early in the morning but couldn't get one.
This enthusiasm is believed to have been influenced by the explosive response confirmed when it launched across the United States in November. In fact, in the U.S. secondhand transaction market, the product at times traded from several hundred dollars up to more than $1,000 (about 1.45 million won).
The Bearista cold cup is a glass cup with a capacity of about 500 milliliters, featuring a bear character design wearing a green beanie. It is a product that Starbucks Korea designed and introduced during a fall 2023 limited promotion, and it was hugely popular then as well, selling out completely.
Starbucks Korea said it plans to proceed with a second restock following the first batch, but did not disclose the specific timing or quantity of the restock.
