A court has reportedly accepted a provisional seizure request for real estate filed by the former manager of TV personality Park Na-rae (40), who halted activities amid abuse-of-power allegations.
According to a Channel A report on the 29th, the court granted a provisional seizure request worth 100 million won that Park Na-rae's former managers had filed.
On the 3rd, Park Na-rae's former managers filed a provisional seizure of real estate worth 100 million won with the Seoul Western District Court, saying Park committed workplace bullying, verbal abuse, and failed to pay operating expenses. Park's agency placed a collateral security right of about 4.9 billion won on Park's single-family home.
On the broadcast, attorney Gu Ja-ryong said, "A ruling does not mean the money is deposited right away. The procedure to freeze the other party's assets was carried out through a provisional seizure request."
He added, "It can be seen that Park Na-rae also effectively anticipated the possibility of it being granted," and explained, "While Park is currently refuting it as false, Park knows best what Park did, so Park may have prepared for the possibility it would be granted."
He also said, "The court closely examined the matter and determined that a provisional seizure was necessary. At the very least, from Park Na-rae's standpoint, there may be psychological pressure, and there is a need to state a position more clearly going forward."
Park Na-rae is in a legal dispute with her former managers. On the 8th, the former managers filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station accusing Park of aggravated assault with a weapon, defamation by alleging false facts, and violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation). They also accused Park of embezzlement with aggravated punishment under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes, saying Park used company funds privately for an ex-boyfriend and others.
On the same day, Park Na-rae said she decided to suspend broadcasting activities as, alongside the abuse-of-power allegations, suspicions of illegal medical procedures also surfaced. Park then filed a countercomplaint, saying the former managers demanded an amount equivalent to 10% of the company's previous year's sales.
