Acting Daegu Mayor and Administrative Vice Mayor Kim Jeong-gi said on the 30th, "In the new year, we will respond preemptively to the new administration's policy agenda."
In a 2026 New Year's address that day, Acting Mayor Kim said, "We will run city affairs with the highest priority on public safety and people's livelihoods," and stated accordingly.
Kim said, "As the president has expressed a strong intention to support the transfer of the airport and water intake source, we will work closely with the government and political circles to find a breakthrough," adding, "We will develop major urban hubs such as the new Daegu City Hall building, the former North Gyeongsang Provincial Government site, and the agricultural and fisheries wholesale market into future growth axes through innovation in spatial structure."
Kim also said, "In solidarity with the local community, we will actively seek to attract national institutions such as the 'National Institute of Dental Research' and the 'National Independence History Museum (provisional name),' and we will make an all-out effort to attract public institutions in the second transfer."
He went on, "We will expand support for small business owners and vulnerable groups, carefully look after livelihoods and safety by strengthening disaster prevention systems against serious industrial accidents and wildfires, and expand 'on-site roundtables' that communicate directly with citizens to reflect diverse voices from the field in city administration."
Acting Mayor Kim said, "With the mindset of Bidoginse (備跳進世·preparing to leap and stepping into the world), we will overcome any difficulty."
