Seoul Metropolitan Police Commissioner Park Jeong-bo said at a regular press briefing on the 29th that 1,760 officers from the riot police, mobile patrol units, and traffic police will be deployed to manage crowds during the Bosingak "New Year's Eve bell" event.
Traffic will be restricted from 6 p.m. on the 31st, when the New Year's Eve bell event is held, until 7 a.m. the following day on the sections from Jongno 2-ga Rotary to Seorin Rotary, from Cheonggye 2-ga Rotary to Ojeonggyo, and from Gwanggyo Rotary to Gongpyeong Rotary.
Police also plan to deploy personnel to manage crowds at 29 sunset and sunrise event sites in downtown Seoul.
Park said, "As severe traffic congestion is expected during the year-end and New Year period, please use public transportation whenever possible."
