Police are currently investigating allegations surrounding Democratic Party of Korea floor leader Kim Byung-kee and the lawmaker's family.
A Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency official said at a regular press briefing on the 29th, "There are newly filed complaints related to the floor leader Kim," and added, "We cannot speak in detail about the ongoing investigation."
Complaints against the floor leader Kim and the lawmaker's family have been filed separately with Dongjak Police Station, Yeongdeungpo Police Station, and Seocho Police Station. Accordingly, there is a possibility that the higher-level Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency could consolidate them and conduct the investigation directly.
Dongjak Police Station is currently investigating allegations that the floor leader Kim intervened in the younger son's transfer to Soongsil University and that the floor leader Kim's wife privately misused the Dongjak District Council vice chair's corporate card.
The allegation that the lawmaker Kim used a Korean Air hotel voucher for free is being handled by Yeongdeungpo Police Station, and the allegation that the floor leader Kim's eldest son conveyed information learned while working at the National Intelligence Service to aides is being handled by Seocho Police Station.
