A complaint asking police to investigate allegations that the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, Kim Byung-kee, had a spouse who privately used a corporate card for business expenses belonging to a former vice chair of a local district council has been filed.
According to police and others on the 28th, the Dongjak Police Station in Seoul received a complaint that morning seeking punishment of the floor leader's spouse, the Dongjak District Council vice chair, and those related to business expenses on charges including occupational embezzlement and drafting false official documents.
The complainant is said to have submitted the complaint online, citing media reports related to the allegation that the floor leader's spouse privately used a corporate card for business expenses.
The floor leader had previously explained that the suspicion had been closed with no charges by an investigative agency. In response, the complainant reportedly argued that a renewed investigation is necessary, referring to a former aide's rebuttal and including newly disclosed materials.
Earlier, on the 26th, a complaint was also filed regarding allegations that the floor leader used a hotel stay invitation from Korean Air and received airport conveniences. This case has reportedly been assigned to the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul.
The floor leader also faced a police complaint on charges of violating the Protection of Communications Secrets Act and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection after disclosing on Facebook a former aide's Telegram chat history.
