A man in his 50s who assaulted a female employee with a hammer at a karaoke bar in Namyangju, Gyeonggi, has been apprehended by police.
The Namyangju Northern Police Station said on the 26th that it had detained and was questioning a man in his 50s, identified as A, on suspicion of aggravated assault.
Police said A is accused of swinging a hammer he was carrying and striking the head of a female employee, identified as B and in her 60s, multiple times at a karaoke bar in Jingeon-eup, Namyangju, at about 8:50 p.m. on the 25th.
Another employee at the scene witnessed the assault and immediately reported it to police, and responding officers arrested A at the scene. B was taken to a nearby hospital by paramedics who arrived on an emergency call and is currently receiving treatment.
Police plan to apply for an arrest warrant soon after questioning A about the details of the incident.
