On Dec. 25, Christmas Day, the country will be mostly clear with most areas falling below freezing. Heavy snow will fall mainly in the Jeolla and West Sea coastal regions.
According to the Korea meteorological Administration, as cold air moves south from the north that day, morning temperatures dropped more than 5 degrees from the previous day. With strong winds, it will feel even colder.
Until the morning, some rain or snow will fall on the northern East Sea coast of Gangwon, and from late afternoon there will be spots of rain or snow in northern inland Chungcheongnam-do and central and southern Chungcheongbuk-do. At night, there will be places in northern inland Jeollabuk-do and western inland Gyeongsangnam-do where less than 0.1 centimeters of snow will be blown about.
From the 25th to the 26th, expected snowfall is 1–5 centimeters on the northern East Sea coast of Gangwon, 3–8 centimeters in the Jeolla region, and 5–10 centimeters in the Jeju highlands. Expected rainfall is around 5 millimeters on the Chungcheongnam-do West Sea coast and the Jeollabuk-do West Sea coast and southern inland, less than 5 millimeters on the Jeollanam-do West Sea coast and in Gwangju and western Jeollanam-do, and 5–20 millimeters on Jeju.
As of 6 a.m. that day, the daily low temperatures were -2.9 degrees in Seoul; -8.3 degrees at Panmunjom, Paju, Gyeonggi; -9.2 degrees at Gwangdeoksan, Hwacheon, Gangwon; -6.2 degrees in Gyeryong, Chungcheongnam-do; -3.9 degrees at Seokpo, Bonghwa, Gyeongsangbuk-do; and -5 degrees at Seongsamjae, Gurye, Jeollanam-do.
The daytime high is forecast at -4 to 8 degrees.
