Police investigating allegations that the Unification Church lobbied politicians will conduct additional questioning on the 24th of Unification Church President Han Hak-ja and former global headquarters chief Yoon Young-ho.
A special task force at the Korean National Police Agency plans to visit Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi, on the morning of the day to question President Han and former chief Yoon, who are being held.
They are suspected of delivering valuables worth tens of millions of won between 2018 and 2020 to Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Chun Jae-soo (former Minister of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries), former Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Lim Jong-sung, and former United Future Party lawmaker Kim Gyu-hwan (now president of Korea Coal Corporation (KOCOAL)).
Previously, police conducted interviews with former chief Yoon and President Han on the 11th and 17th, respectively, but are said to have failed to secure meaningful statements. The former lawmakers identified as lobbying targets are flatly denying the allegations of receiving valuables.
