About 36,000 residents of Goesan County, North Chungcheong Province, will receive 500,000 won per person in livelihood stabilization support early next year. The move is aimed at reviving sluggish consumer sentiment and breathing life into the local economy.
According to Goesan County on the 21st, the Goesan County Council held a regular session plenary meeting around the 19th and gave final approval to the 2026 main budget bill containing these measures. The budget is 18.043 billion won, and the support will be loaded onto the local currency "Goesan Love Card" and distributed.
The funds were prepared by using the Integrated Fiscal Stabilization Fund, increased general subsidies, and the surplus from the previous year. Spending is limited to affiliated merchants that accept the Goesan County local gift certificate to boost the local economy.
With inflation and job insecurity continuing to weigh, worsening the management difficulties of small merchants and the self-employed, Goesan County expects that immediately usable support will serve as a bulwark to prevent the local economy from contracting.
