The wife, Bae, of former national baseball team manager Ryu Joong-il recently issued a statement raising suspicions of an inappropriate relationship between her former daughter-in-law, a female teacher identified as A, and a high school student she taught.
Bae said the reason she recently filed a public petition in her husband's name was "to bring social attention to the suspected sex crime between a female teacher and a student and the issue of child abuse against my grandson, and to call for institutional fixes."
Bae said, "On Jan. 17, 2024, the female teacher ordered a cosplay school uniform and underwear, and on the 24th, 26th, 27th, and 28th of the same month, she used two hotels while even bringing along my grandson," adding, "Then on Jan. 29, my son found a school uniform covered in semen among her hidden belongings."
She said, "An indirect DNA comparison found that the semen from the cosplay school uniform belonged to the male student, and the National Forensic Service also notified the same result as the private analysis," adding, "The only remaining step now is a direct DNA comparison."
She continued, "At first, regarding the school uniform, the female teacher's side said it was 'my older sister's belongings,' but later changed the explanation to say it was 'prepared for her husband,'" adding, "At the time, the couple had already been estranged for more than half a year due to the female teacher's frequent misconduct and lies." She added, "They craftily altered their statements to conceal the fact of sexual relations with a minor."
Regarding the male student's side, Bae said, "We left open the possibility that the male student could also be a victim in this case and waited for the truth to be clarified and for an apology, but what came back after two years was a complaint accusing us of blackmail and housebreaking," adding, "The background to the silence is that if sex while accompanying a child is revealed, he too would find it hard to avoid legal trouble."
Ryu's former daughter-in-law, a former teacher, was accused and reported by her ex-husband, Ryu, on charges of having an inappropriate relationship with a high school student she taught from Aug. 2023 to January last year and bringing her young son to the scene.
However, on the 14th of last month, the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office said, "It is hard to acknowledge that the suspect sexually abused a high school student who had not yet turned 18 or exposed that scene to her child," and issued no-charge decisions on both cases. Ryu, the son, who objected to this, filed an appeal with prosecutors.
Meanwhile, the father of Ryu's former daughter-in-law said, "The former son-in-law has already received a summary order from the court on suspicion of demanding money by saying he would tip off the media with false information (attempted extortion)," and argued that his daughter did not have an inappropriate relationship with her student, but rather that she went on a hotel vacation together with students.
