A Chinese national who stabbed an acquaintance with a weapon, claiming the person abused the attacker's pet, was taken into police custody.
Gwangju Gwangsan Police said on the 19th that they urgently arrested A, a Chinese national in her 20s, on suspicion of attempted murder.
A is suspected of stabbing B, a Chinese national in his 50s, with a weapon at a dwellings in Wolgok-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, at about 5 p.m. on the 18th. The investigation found that the two met while working as construction laborers and had been close enough to visit each other's homes.
On the day of the incident, A returned from going out and found her dog bleeding, then concluded it was B's doing, sought B out, and got into a scuffle, it was found. A, who had prepared a weapon in advance, fled after stabbing B but was arrested by police at her residence about two hours after the incident.
B, while injured, went to a nearby acquaintance's home to ask for help and was taken to a hospital immediately. B has regained consciousness but is still in critical condition.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, including whether B actually abused the dog. A police official said they will apply for an arrest warrant for A as soon as the investigation is completed.
