North Chungcheong Province will open the first provincial sports facility, a "park golf course," in Cheongju on the 18th and begin trial operations.
That afternoon, North Chungcheong Province held an opening ceremony for the "provincial park golf course," built at 414-41, Guseong-ri, Naesu-eup, Cheongwon-gu, Cheongju.
The provincial park golf course was built on a site measuring 70,722 square meters (about 21,730 pyeong). It consists of 45 holes of park golf, a clubhouse, a management building, two restrooms, and 142 parking spaces. The total project cost is 4.7 billion won.
Following the opening ceremony, North Chungcheong Province will operate the park golf course on a trial basis from the 19th to Mar. 31 next year. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Monday. It will be closed every Monday for facility management and turf protection.
Use is limited to residents of North Chungcheong Province. However, residents of six population-declining localities in the province—Jecheon, Boeun, Okcheon, Yeongdong, Goesan, and Danyang—may use it on days when the last digit ends in "1." Entry is first come, first served without reservations, and use is free during the trial period.
Starting with this opening, North Chungcheong Province plans to expand the facility in phases, including a second-stage park golf course expansion. The goal is to build a park golf course capable of hosting national-level tournaments.
Governor Kim Young-hwan of North Chungcheong Province said, "We will develop the provincial park golf course into North Chungcheong's leading hub for community sports and leisure."
