Yonsei University said on the 18th that it held the "Yonsei AI Policy Campus launch ceremony and AX Innovation Awards" at Yongjae Hall in the Business Building on the 17th.
Yonsei University held the event to present a new direction for public policy in the rapidly changing era of artificial intelligence (AI) and to identify and spread outstanding cases of AI transformation (AX) in the public sector. The event was hosted by the Yonsei Future Government Research Center, the Institute of Public Affairs, and the Institute for State Governance, with the Department of Public Administration's BK21 Education and Research Group and the Korean Association for Policy Studies collaborating. Google, a global AI corporation, participated as a sponsor.
Yoon Chae-eun, Google's head of operations, said, "Close cooperation between technology corporations and academia is essential for AI technology to have a positive impact across society," adding, "Google will work with a variety of partners in Korea, including Yonsei University, to energize the AI policy research ecosystem and lead responsible AI innovation."
Park Tae-ung, head of the public AX subcommittee at the Presidential Committee on AI, gave a presentation on strategic tasks for our society to respond to the rapid social changes that AI technology will bring, under the theme "The age of AI, challenge and response."
At the awards ceremony, outstanding cases were introduced in which the public sector used AI to improve administrative efficiency and help solve social problems/
The grand prize went to Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co. (KHNP), and the top excellence award went to the Korea Employment Information Service.

Moon Myeong-jae, head of the Yonsei Future Government Research Center, said, "We hope this event will serve as a meaningful opportunity to seek ways for AI technology and public policy to harmonize," adding, "We will work to build a substantive policy research ecosystem through continued cooperation with partners such as Google."
