Police will investigate allegations that broadcaster Park Na-rae used illegal medical services.
On the 16th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office said it had transferred to police the complaint filed by former Korean Medical Association Organization President Lim Hyun-taek against Park Na-rae and a person surnamed Lee, known as the "injection aunt," on charges including violations of the Medical Service Act.
Lim previously filed a complaint through the National Petition System, saying that the person surnamed Lee illegally obtained pharmaceuticals and performed unlicensed medical procedures. Park Na-rae is suspected of using illegal medical procedures.
A complaint was also filed with prosecutors alleging that Park Na-rae received an illegal medical procedure from an "IV aunt," a different person from the injection aunt.
Prosecutors initially assigned the complaint to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office. The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office is known as a specialized office for food and drug crimes that conducts professional investigations into various pharmaceutical cases.
Regarding the transfer to police, a prosecution official said, "If it is deemed more efficient to combine investigations rather than splitting them among several offices, cases may be transferred."
Police said the previous day that the case in which Park Na-rae was sued by a former manager's side over alleged abuse of power and the use of illegal medical services is being handled by the Gangnam Police Station, while the case filed by Park Na-rae's side is being handled by the Yongsan Police Station, and both are currently investigating.
