A fire broke out at an elementary school in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, prompting the evacuation of about 300 people.
According to the Northern Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters on the 15th, a fire started at about 12:14 p.m. in a second-floor science lab at an elementary school in Beopheung-ri, Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi Province.
Three people, including faculty and staff, inhaled smoke, and two of them were taken to a hospital. In addition, 307 people, including 264 students and 43 faculty and staff, evacuated outside the building.
Fire authorities reportedly mobilized 26 pieces of equipment and 61 personnel and completely extinguished the blaze at about 12:40 p.m., about 24 minutes after the fire started.
Police and fire authorities said they believe the fire started inside the science lab and are investigating the exact cause and the extent of the damage.
