Police investigating Coupang's massive personal data breach have been conducting a raid at Coupang's headquarters for the sixth day.
Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner Park Jeong-bo said at a regular press briefing on the 15th, "We plan to analyze the seized items to identify the leak route and intruders, and to look into whether there were any wrongdoings by Coupang regarding personal information protection."
Police have been executing a search and seizure warrant at Coupang's headquarters office in Songpa-gu, Seoul since on the 9th. On this day as well, they deployed 11 investigators from the dedicated task force starting at 9:30 a.m. to carry out the raid. As of the previous day, police said they had secured more than 60% of the materials they were targeting.
Police said the raid is taking a long time because the personal data breach at Coupang has continued for an extended period and has grown to 33.7 million accounts. The raid on Coupang is expected to be wrapped up on this day or around the 16th.
Police are also continuing their investigation into a former Chinese employee identified as a suspect in the massive personal data breach at Coupang. Commissioner Park said, "We are actively carrying out the procedures necessary to secure custody of suspect A."
