Police investigating Coupang's massive personal data leak are carrying out searches and seizures for the fourth straight day.
The dedicated investigation team for the Coupang personal data leak under the Cyber Investigation Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has been executing a search and seizure warrant at Coupang's headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, since about 9:30 a.m. on the 11th. Police have conducted searches and seizures at Coupang's headquarters for about 10 hours a day since the 9th. The volume of leaked information is large, so there appears to be a lot of material that needs to be secured.
Based on the materials secured, police plan to pursue a former Chinese employee suspected of leaking personal data and to examine technical vulnerabilities in Coupang's internal management system.
Coupang initially said the number of people affected by the personal data leak was around 4,500, but the number of leaked accounts later confirmed increased to 33.7 million.
