Two bodies, a man in his 40s and his 9-year-old son, were found at an apartment in Yongin, Gyeonggi. Police are currently investigating, suspecting the father killed his son and then jumped to his death.
According to police on the 11th, at about 5:55 p.m. that day, a 119 call came in reporting that "a person fell" at an apartment in Giheung-gu, Yongin.
Responding to a joint request from fire authorities, police who were dispatched found A, a man in his 40s, presumed to have died after jumping from the 20th floor of the apartment, and recovered the body. Police used the car key found in A's pants pocket to locate a vehicle in the apartment parking lot.
In the back seat of the car was the body of B, A's 9-year-old son. It was reported that two black plastic bags had been placed on B's abdomen. Based on an examining doctor's opinion that B likely died of "asphyxiation due to neck compression," police believe A strangled his son to death and then jumped.
Based on CCTV footage, police confirmed that that afternoon A picked up his son, who attends a special school, in his car after school, drove to an apartment where they had previously lived, parked in the garage, went up to the apartment and jumped. Police determined there was no third-party involvement along the route from school to the scene.
Recently, A reportedly told family members that "I lost 200 million won in stocks," expressing despair about his circumstances.
