Two bodies, a man in his 40s and his 9-year-old son, were found at an apartment in Yongin, Gyeonggi. Police are currently investigating the case as the father killing his son and then taking his own life.
According to police on the 11th, at about 5:55 p.m. that day, a 119 call was received reporting that "a person fell" at an apartment in Giheung District, Yongin.
Responding to a joint request from fire authorities, police arrived and recovered the body of a man in his 40s, identified as A, who was presumed dead at the apartment. Police used the car key found in A's pants pocket to locate a vehicle in the apartment parking lot.
In the back seat of the car was the body of A's 9-year-old son, identified as B. Two black plastic bags were reportedly placed on B's abdomen. Based on the medical examiner's opinion that B likely died of "asphyxiation due to neck compression," police believe A strangled his son to death.
Police said CCTV footage indicated there was no involvement by a third party.
