A teenage man drove while heavily intoxicated and rammed a police patrol car.
The Jungnang Police Station in Seoul said on the 10th that it arrested a 19-year-old man, identified only as A, on the spot and is investigating him on suspicion of ramming a patrol car while driving in a heavily intoxicated state.
According to police, A is accused of driving after drinking and ramming a police patrol car that responded to a report of suspected drunk driving at about 11:30 p.m. on the 9th near an apartment in Sinnae-dong, Jungnang-gu, in violation of the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Two police officers in the patrol car were injured in the crash and taken to a hospital. The front of the patrol car was heavily damaged.
At the time of the crash, A's blood alcohol level was high enough to warrant license revocation, police said. A was not unlicensed, according to reports.
Police plan to question A in detail about the circumstances of the drunk driving.
