Police have launched a search and seizure of Coupang, where a large-scale personal information leak occurred.
According to investigative authorities on the 9th, police have been executing a search and seizure warrant for Coupang's headquarters in Songpa-gu, Seoul, since about 11 a.m. that day.
Police formed a dedicated investigative team at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for the Coupang personal information leak and have been conducting the probe. On Nov. 28, they questioned Coupang as the accused and have been analyzing materials submitted voluntarily. They appear to be seeking to secure additional materials through the search and seizure.
A government investigation found that, starting on June 24, Coupang customer information leaked out little by little each day. It involves data on 33.7 million customers, including names, phone numbers, addresses, and order histories.
While analyzing the materials obtained through the search and seizure, police plan to track the perpetrators based on an internet protocol (IP) analysis.
