A man in his 30s was indicted and detained after driving with a designated driver hanging from the car, causing the driver's death.
The Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office said on the 9th that it indicted and detained a man in his 30s, identified as A, on charges including murder.
A is accused of pushing a designated driver in his 60s, identified as B, out of the driver's seat around 1:15 a.m. on the 14th on a road near Gwanpyeong-dong, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, while B was driving him.
After pushing B out, A allegedly drove about 1.5 kilometers with the door open. Entangled in the seat belt and hanging, with his upper body exposed to the road, B suffered severe head injuries and died.
At the time of the crash, A was heavily intoxicated at a level warranting license revocation. A reportedly told police, "I was drunk and don't remember anything at all."
