A suspect on fraud charges who fled during the prosecution's execution of an arrest warrant has been caught.
On Jan. 5, the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office said it had recaptured and was questioning a man in his 40s, identified only by the surname A, who had been booked on fraud charges, at an unspecified location in Jeonju, North Jeolla Province, at about 3:30 a.m. that day.
Booked on fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes, A was a suspect in a case handed over to the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office by police, and had earlier on the 1st evaded an investigator and fled during the execution of an arrest warrant.
After asking for time to gather belongings from a car, A started the engine and fled when surveillance was lax. Prosecutors did not disclose the circumstances of A's escape or whether there were any accomplices.
Prosecutors are said to be checking whether guidelines were properly followed during the execution of the arrest warrant.
