Lee & Ko said on the 4th that Managing Partner Kang Young-soo was appointed Chairperson of the 4th Information Security Industry Dispute Mediation Committee on the 17th of last month after being commissioned by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
The Information Security Industry Dispute Mediation Committee is a body established under Article 25 of the Act on the Promotion of the Information Security Industry. It is tasked with mediating disputes that arise in the development and use of information security products and services.
It handles quasi-judicial procedures to resolve, swiftly and professionally, disputes in the information security industry that involve a complex mix of technology, contracts, and personal information issues.
Chairperson Kang served as a judge for 29 years until leaving the bench in 2022 as chief judge of the Incheon District Court. Kang is an expert who has handled a broad range of intellectual property, IT, and technology dispute cases, including serving for several years as presiding judge of specialized intellectual property panels.
Kang has also been recognized for expertise in personal information protection and dispute mediation, serving as the inaugural chair of the Future Forum of the Personal Information Protection Commission. Kang is currently serving as Chairperson of the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee.
