On the 3rd, the first anniversary of the Dec. 3 martial law, Minister Jung Sung-ho of the Justice Ministry said, "What truly sets democracy right is a thorough punishment and reckoning for those who continue hatred and incitement without reflection on martial law, both inside and outside the courtroom."
The Minister wrote on Facebook the same day, "As the justice minister who must safeguard the Constitution and the rule of law, we will hold the main culprits of the rebellion that sought to overthrow the democratic republic strictly accountable."
He said, "Recalling the people who waved glowing light sticks even in the biting winter wind and shouted for the protection of the Constitution and the rule of law, I resolve to better carry out the mission entrusted to me," adding, "What we must shoulder as a cabinet member of the Lee Jae-myung administration is to return Korea, set back by the coup forces, to the ranks of advanced countries."
He added, "Today, which confirms the remarkable resilience of our democracy and that the owners of Korea are not those in power but the people, marks the first anniversary of the 'revolution of light.'"
