Composer and TV personality Yu Jae-hwan was sentenced to a fine in the first trial on a charge of forcible molestation.
Seo Young-woo, a single-judge criminal division 12 judge at the Seoul Southern District Court, said on the 2nd that on the 26th of last month, the court sentenced Yu, who was indicted on a charge of forcible molestation, to a fine of 5 million won and ordered completion of 40 hours of a sex offender treatment program.
Yu is accused of forcibly molesting a victim he came to know after posting on social media (SNS) in June 2023 that he would "compose a song without receiving a composition fee."
At the time, Yu said on SNS, "Until the day all trials are over, I will step away from the entertainment industry and broadcasting," and "I put my hands together and apologize to the person who was truly harmed because of me."
It was confirmed that Yu filed an appeal with the Seoul Southern District Court that day, challenging the first-trial verdict.
