Musical actor Ok Juhyun, formerly of the group Fin.K.L, has been sent to prosecutors on suspicion of running an unregistered talent agency.
According to police and others on the 1st, the Namyangju Northern Police Station in Gyeonggi referred Ok without detention on the 27th on suspicion of violating the Act on the Development of the Public Culture and Arts Industry.
Ok is accused of operating TOI Entertainment (TOI), a talent agency she founded, without registering as a public culture and arts planning business operator.
Earlier, complaints were filed through the National Sinmungo system alleging Ok ran an unregistered talent agency, and the Namyangju Northern Police Station has been investigating, given that the agency is located in Byeollae-dong, Namyangju.
Under the Act on the Development of the Public Culture and Arts Industry, operating as a public culture and arts planning business operator without registration is punishable by up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.
A police official said, "They say registration has now been completed, but we determined the charge is substantiated because it was confirmed the agency was operated without registration before that," adding, "We cannot disclose specific criminal facts."
Meanwhile, TOI is said to have completed its business registration during the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's "public culture and arts planning business comprehensive registration guidance period."
TOI said, "It appears an omission occurred in the administrative process," adding, "It was never the case that we intentionally avoided legal procedures or operated the company illegally."
