A man in his 30s who drove with a designated driver hanging from the car, causing his death, has been arrested and referred for indictment. The man was reportedly heavily intoxicated at the time of the crash.
According to Daejeon Yuseong Police Station on the 27th, a man in his 30s, identified as A, suddenly hurled insults and assaulted a designated driver in his 60s, identified as B, who was driving him at about 1:15 a.m. on the 14th on a road near Gwanpyeong-dong, Yuseong District, Daejeon.
A pushed B out of the driver's seat and reportedly drove about 1.5 kilometers with the door open. B was dragged with his body caught on the seat belt, and the car stopped only after colliding with a roadside guardrail. B ultimately died.
A was said to have called B after drinking with coworkers and was on the way from Yuseong District, Daejeon, to Cheongju, North Chungcheong.
At the time of the crash, A was intoxicated at a level warranting license revocation. Police arrested A and referred the case for indictment on charges including murder and assaulting a driver.
A reportedly told police during questioning, "I don't remember."
