On Thursday the 27th, rain is expected in many parts of the country, with snow in mountainous areas of Gangwon and elsewhere. Temperatures will be above normal, but strong winds are forecast for most regions.
According to the Korea meteorological Administration on the 26th, light rain will fall over most areas from the morning of the 27th and stop for the most part at night. Expected rainfall is 5–20 mm in the greater Seoul area and the Chungcheong region and in the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and around 5 mm in the Gyeongsang and Jeolla regions and on Jeju Island.
Some places in northeastern Gyeonggi and the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, the northern part of North Chungcheong and the high mountains of eastern North Jeolla, the northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang, and the mountains of Jeju Island will also see snow. Expected snowfall is 3–8 cm in the Gangwon mountains, 1–5 cm in the high mountains of eastern North Jeolla, and around 1 cm in the inland areas of Gangwon, the northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang, and the mountains of Jeju.
In areas with rain or snow, gusts may be accompanied by thunder and lightning, so facility management should be handled with care.
The Korea meteorological Administration observed that in most parts of the country, many places will see strong winds from the morning of the 27th with speeds over 55 kph. From morning, the central west coast, some inland parts of South Chungcheong, the Jeolla coast, and Jeju Island may see fierce winds over 70 kph from the afternoon in Yeongdong, Gangwon, the east coast of North Gyeongsang, and the northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang, with the possibility of a high wind advisory being issued. Some areas may see graupel.
Temperatures on the 27th will be similar to or slightly higher than the average (low of minus 4 to 6 degrees, high of 7 to 14 degrees). Morning lows are forecast at minus 1 to 8 degrees, and daytime highs at 7 to 16 degrees.
Expected lows and highs for major cities are Seoul 5 and 9, Incheon 6 and 9, Gangneung 4 and 13, Daejeon 3 and 12, Gwangju 4 and 12, Daegu 3 and 13, Ulsan 6 and 15, Busan 8 and 16, and Jeju 10 and 16.
Inland areas nationwide will see frost, and some places will have ice as morning temperatures fall below freezing.
As rain stops on the night of the 27th and it gradually turns colder, observations indicate winter will begin in earnest from the 28th.
Fine dust levels are expected to be between "good" and "moderate" across all regions.
