Dasomi, the official mascot of the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, won the grand prize in the institutional sector at the 2025 Korea Character Awards.
The Korea Character Awards is organized by Digital Chosun Ilbo and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), among others.
The awards are divided into corporations, public institutions, and local governments institutional sector, and select characters with designs that have aesthetic quality, creativity, and symbolism.
Yeosu's Dasomi advanced to the final round alongside Seoul's Haechi and Seoul Friends, Busan's Boogi, and Yes Oil's Gudoil, and took the grand prize.
Dasomi embodies the meaning of Yeosu's 365 islands. It represents the symbol of abundance and harmony formed by the gathering of islands. The design captures the island's natural tranquility and vitality with refreshing colors and a friendly expression.
Cho Hyeong-geun, head of planning at the Yeosu World Island Expo, said, "We will actively use Dasomi in promotional content and merchandise to widely publicize the Island Expo."
